Wiccan interviews an Asatruar

For a lot of Christians, Jews, and I guess Muslims, the idea of someone worshipping multiple gods and goddesses all goes under the heading of "pagan", (I exclude Hindus and Buddhists as they have plenty of gods).  Within the Pagan and Heathen communities though, the difference is pronounced and important.

In an earlier post I commented on the article 'The Pentagram and the Hammer', which covers how different the two are.  In this article the author starts out admitting she's avoided Asatruar as she's had negative interactions with them.  However, she decides to interview an Asatruar she knows and comes away with a really good article.  I recommend this to not just my fellow followers of the ancestral Germanic gods, and Pagans, but Christians, Jews and even Muslims.

Morning After Pill OK for 15 year olds and Above...

OK, so read this quote, ""We are profoundly disappointed. This appeal takes away the promise of all women having timely access to emergency contraception," Susannah Baruch, Interim President & CEO of the Reproductive Health Technologies Project" (full article here).  Susannah is upset that several politicians and groups want to appeal the decision to allow the sale of the morning after pill to females 15 years and older.

Couple of things come to mind here...
  1. Why are women the issue here?  Yes, they have to essentially abort the fertilized egg, but it didn't get fertilized all by itself.  Do men have no responsibility in this?  No accountability?  Are men free to boink and let the women take all the responsibility for the consequences?  By focusing on the "promise" to women, men are removed from the equation and can just go on their merry way.
  2. When a 15 year old girl needs "emergency contraception" there is something seriously wrong in that kid's life! Starting with her parents and their inability to teach good judgment to their little girl.  There is also something wrong with the boy's life if he's screwing at age 15 and very wrong if he's older and screwing 15 year old girls.  Seriously wrong. He's a loser.
The whole issue points to an avoidance of responsibility and the deliberate efforts to remove responsibility from the decision making that kids and adults make.  Do what you like, don't worry about the results are of your impulsive decisions, we got you covered.  Someone else will take care of you and your errors.  You have a promise on that.
